Commercial pilot training usually takes 18–24 months for airplanes (ATPL(A)) and 12–18 months for helicopters (CPL(H)), depending on weather, student progress, and academy scheduling.
The cost for airplane ATPL(A) training ranges from €60,000–€90,000, while helicopter CPL(H) training ranges from €45,000–€70,000. Training in the UAE (GCAA) may be slightly higher due to operational costs.
An EASA license is issued in Europe and recognized across EU countries and many global airlines. A GCAA license is issued in the UAE and highly valued in the Middle East. Both meet ICAO standards but differ in recognition and conversion requirements.
PPL (Private Pilot License): For personal flying, not for commercial work. CPL (Commercial Pilot License): Allows you to work as a professional pilot. ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License): The highest license, required to captain commercial airliners.
Graduates can pursue careers as airline first officers, corporate pilots, cargo pilots, or helicopter pilots in sectors like tourism, offshore oil & gas, and emergency medical services.
After completing your CPL, pilots usually build hours by working as a flight instructor, banner tow pilot, aerial survey pilot, or in entry-level charter operations. Many academies also offer structured hour-building packages, helping pilots log cross-country, night, and instrument flying experience. Once you reach 1500 total flight hours, you become eligible for an ATPL and airline employment. Jetliner Aero offers exclusive hour building courses as well as Flight Instructor course with a job offer. Kindly contact us!
Yes, in many countries you can. Under EASA and GCAA regulations, airlines can hire pilots with a frozen ATPL (usually around 200–250 hours) as a First Officer. The 1500-hour rule is mostly applicable to major airlines. In Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, graduates often start their careers with airlines after completing their ATPL and type rating, even with low hours.
Yes, but conversion requires additional exams, flight checks, and sometimes extra training hours and the requirements may vary as per the respected CAA regulation. Many students choose EASA first for broader global recognition.
Yes. Many airlines in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia recruit newly licensed pilots. A type rating on a specific aircraft (such as Airbus A320 or Boeing 737) is usually required before flying for an airline.
